In an era marked by global crises, uncertainty, and rapid change, the mental resilience of children and adults is becoming increasingly important. To support children in this area from an early age, we have launched a project that firmly and sustainably integrates resilience-building into the daily routines of schools and daycare centers in Lippstadt and Fürstenwalde.
The program developed by EH Freiburg is scientifically based and aims not only to provide children with one-off support, but also to teach them skills such as self-efficacy, emotion regulation, problem-solving skills and social strength on an ongoing basis.
This concept is characterized by a particularly comprehensive approach, as it involves three central target groups:
- Children who develop resilience skills in an age-appropriate and practical way
- Parents, who are included in the support as the most important caregivers
- Professionals who are empowered through professional development and resources to integrate resilience into their educational work over the long term.
This integration creates a lasting impact that extends far beyond the individual project hours.
The project is scheduled to run for two school years (2026–2028) and will be carried out at a total of eight schools in Lippstadt and Fürstenwalde.
More than 400 children attend the Sonnengrundschule Fürstenwalde. The school places special emphasis on fostering a friendly school environment and promoting independence and social learning. A wide variety of projects and full-day programs complement classroom instruction and support the individual development of the students. The CTA Cultural Association is responsible for school social work at the school.
The Theodor Fontane Elementary School in Fürstenwalde is one of four public elementary schools in Fürstenwalde and is attended by 370 students. Here, they learn in a structured yet supportive environment. The school places special emphasis on individualized support, cultural education, and respectful interaction. The CTA Cultural Association is responsible for school social work at the school.
The Südclub is a center for open children’s and youth programs in Fürstenwalde/Spree (Eastern Brandenburg). Up to 80 children ages 8 and up come to the Südclub every day to spend their free time playing freely, participating in clubs, using the sports field, exploring the large adventure area, or playing in the construction playground with its attached woodshop. For more than 30 years, we have been committed to children’s participation, adventure, and hands-on crafts.
The“Kleine Waldfürsten”daycare center in Fürstenwalde is a nature-based preschool with a capacity of up to 25 children. Much of the daily routine takes place outdoors and encourages physical activity, creativity, and a connection to nature. The center places special emphasis on self-directed learning and shared experiences.
At the Blauland Inclusive Family Center in Lippstadt, children ranging in age from a few months old to school age are cared for in five groups. A key focus is on targeted support and education in various areas of development (e.g., language, motor skills, social behavior). Through a diverse range of educational activities, the children receive individualized support as they develop.
The Im Grünen Winkel School in Lippstadt is a special education school specializing in learning disabilities. It is located in a natural setting and serves grades 1 through 10. Approximately 200 children attend the school, which places great emphasis on physical activity, health, and social learning. The Rietberg Youth Services organization is responsible for school social work at the school.
The Hedwig School is a special education school focused on emotional and social development, operated by the City of Lippstadt, and serves students in grades 1 through 10. With great dedication, it creates a supportive learning environment, and through close collaboration with families and various partners, the Hedwig School supports each child according to their strengths and abilities. The Rietberg Youth Services Organization provides school social work services at the school.
The Friedrichschule in Lippstadt is a community elementary school with two campuses. Through a wide range of activities and exciting projects, the school aims to spark curiosity and a spirit of discovery, as these are the foundations for lifelong learning. Collaboration with parents, Lippstadt’s kindergartens, and sports clubs is particularly important. PariSozial provides school social work services at the school.
