The regional state of Amhara, the second largest region in Ethiopia, is characterized by deep poverty, high unemployment and irregular migration. The education situation in this region is extremely worrying. The conflict in Tigray, Ethiopia, has caused massive destruction to the educational infrastructure and has led to the need to equip existing schools. The TERRA TECH e. V. association is carrying out this work together with a local project partner. Twelve schools that have been in existence for many years are being rebuilt and equipped. Primary and secondary school teachers are being trained. Laboratory, library and educational materials as well as school furniture, books and blackboards are being purchased. The latter two items in particular are essential, as they represent basic educational materials that are indispensable for effective teaching. The provision of books enables pupils to prepare fully for the national final examinations, while blackboards help teachers to make lessons interactive and clear. The provision of these materials can significantly improve the quality of teaching and increase pupils’ motivation to learn.
The KARL BRÖCKER FOUNDATION supported the association in the purchase of books and blackboards for six elementary school.
