Sports and nutrition week

KGS Heßhofstraße, Cologne

KGS Heßhofstraße hosted a varied and active sports and nutrition week. The aim was to introduce the pupils to important aspects of exercise, team spirit and healthy eating in a fun and playful way. The week was supported by a professional team.

A real highlight awaited the children right at the start of the week: a sports event in the school playground. A wide variety of exercise stations were set up at this event – including an obstacle course, a team run, basketball and soccer games as well as exciting reaction and cooperation tasks. The focus was on fairness, teamwork and, above all, having fun with exercise.

In addition to sport, another focus of the week was on healthy eating. In various class projects, the children cooked, tried out and learned together. The children learned which foods are part of a balanced diet, how much sugar is hidden in popular drinks and how important drinking, fruit and vegetables are for everyday school life. Some classes prepared healthy breakfasts or snacks themselves, others created colorful food pyramids or researched the origins of their favorite dishes.

Children, teachers, educational specialists and parents were involved in this week. Some classes also dealt with the topic of sustainable consumption – for example, how to avoid food waste or how to design environmentally friendly packaging.

The sports and nutrition week at KGS Heßhofstraße was a complete success and a special experience. The combination of exercise, games, knowledge and community made it clear how much fun a healthy lifestyle can be.

The project was financially supported by the Karl Bröcker Foundation.
