AKGG – Creating spaces for development!

The pupils who are taught, supported and accompanied come to the Georg Büchner School for a wide variety of reasons, be it after a long illness, a stressful environment, negative experiences at general educational institutions (this already begins in the nursery) or communication difficulties due to a migration background.
The children have a low frustration tolerance, difficulty concentrating, a low self-image and depressing family situations.
The AKGG’s mission is to support and strengthen the children to such an extent that they are able to take part in lessons at general education schools.

Here, too, the children have clearly noticed that corona has left its mark.
The children’s need for additional support and community time has increased.
Some of the pupils had no experience of childcare services before starting school due to the lack of or closure of daycare places.
It is therefore only after the school examination that the deficits, for example in fine and gross motor skills, become apparent.
Everyday basic social and motor skills have not been practiced: how do I behave in a group?
Jumping rope, walking backwards, riding a bike, swimming, singing together, simple table manners, cutting an apple, etc. This means that the entry level (Year 1 and 2) is already well equipped with pupils.

Due to significant developmental delays and extreme abnormalities in interaction, there is a need for all-day care at the school, as these children are difficult to integrate into other sports programs or sports clubs, for example.
Afternoon care is now offered here on 4 afternoons with permanent caregivers.
They need the special relationship with the school companions in the building there.
This offer enables the children to spend their afternoons in a meaningful way and to strengthen their social interaction.
The Karl Bröcker Foundation provides support here.
