There was a lot going on at the PadleCity in Dortmund, where the “Holidays without suitcases” #BewegteFerien project took place, organized by Diakonie Bethanien gGmbH’s children’s intensive care and support services.
Children aged 6 – 11 with disabilities and their siblings were able to spend a carefree time at this vacation camp.
“Healthy” children and young people can take advantage of a wide range of vacation activities during the vacations or, if in doubt, even keep themselves busy.
This is often not the case for children with disabilities.
The overall aim of the project was to show the children the joy of movement and to enable them to socialize with other children during the vacations.
Here they were able to experience movement units and relaxation exercises together.
An overall concept tailored to the children with a daily program including meals was prepared.
They were accompanied by numerous trained specialists.
The shared experiences are extremely important for the children, giving them a chance to simply forget about everyday life.
This fantastic project is largely financed by donations.
The Karl Bröcker Foundation has supported the project financially.
