Green Screen Workshop – When Creativity leads to self-confidence and team spirit
Green screen, camera, and animation: In a media workshop sponsored by the Karl Bröcker Foundation, nine students from the Christophorus School in Erfurt—a general-education full-day school specializing in intellectual development—immersed themselves in the world of film production. During their class trip, they visited the medienWERK Eschwege and learned about green screen technology in their first workshop. Together, they developed a story, took on roles, and experienced how digital technology can create entirely new worlds.
In a second workshop at the school, the students put their experiences to creative use. They designed their own sets and characters and used them to produce an animated film step by step. Everyone was able to contribute according to their own abilities. It was particularly gratifying to see how much joy and self-confidence the students showed as they developed their own ideas and worked together on their film.
The project not only fostered media literacy and creativity, but also self-confidence, communication skills, and team spirit. The resulting film was then presented to the entire school and remains a lasting shared sense of accomplishment for the class.
