wellengang hamburg

Almost one in four children experience a parent with a mental disorder, temporarily, repeatedly or permanently.
wellengang hamburg has set itself the goal of helping children of mentally ill parents with its group services for children and young people.
Their vision is for children to grow up healthy and unharmed in their families, even if one of their parents is under severe emotional strain or has a mental illness.
As a rule, children and young people only receive help and support when they themselves are already psychiatrically conspicuous or their parents seek educational counseling due to their children’s behavioural problems.

The group aims to make it easier for the children to deal with their parents’ illness, for example by imparting knowledge about mental illness.
It also aims to strengthen the children’s resources and coping skills and reduce prejudices, feelings of guilt and fears.
In the group, you will meet like-minded people.
This offer is intended to support the often forgotten, but large and constantly growing group of children with mentally distressed parents.

The children’s self-esteem should be strengthened and they should learn to trust their own perception, which helps them to build up a sustainable network that gives them support in difficult situations.
They draw strength from the group dynamic and realize that they are not alone in special life situations.

The wellengang hamburg group program is for children and young people aged 7 to 16 and is free of charge.

The organization of a group is made possible by the financial support of the Karl Bröcker Foundation.
