School materials have become very expensive.
And for some families, it is not possible to buy everything the children need for school.
The Protestant parish of Lippstadt started in the summer vacations of 2022 and has set up a school supply store.
Families with low incomes in particular benefit from this offer.
The chamber supports children in
1st and
2nd grade and provides the items needed by first graders and pupils.
This does not include school bags, school books or exercise books.
The materials can be ordered easily via an activated homepage. Here you can order what you need from the material lists issued by the schools. The local authority provides the materials (e.g. exercise books, drawing pads, brushes, etc.), packs them up and parents can collect the bag on agreed dates. There is a small cushion for any latecomers. The names of the recipients are recorded to prevent possible misuse. Expensive items such as pens are only given out once. The free school materials are issued to families on presentation of their income statement (Alg II, social benefit, housing benefit, child supplement, Asylum Seekers Benefits Act or other low income).
Without this support, children from low-income families would experience exclusion and stigmatization right from the start of their school years because their parents lack the money for good equipment.
The aim of this project is to ensure that families from socially disadvantaged backgrounds in particular are able to participate equally in their children’s school life.
The school supply store enables all children to have a good start at school under the same conditions.
