Rosegger School Waldbröl

Project week "School without racism - school with courage"

From art activities to literature and music to poetry slams: In the week before the fall vacations, the pupils at the Rosegger School in Waldbröl participated in a project week. The special school with a focus on learning and emotional and social development is also a “School without Racism – School with Courage”.
There were numerous workshops: The classes dealt with the values of respect, diversity, civil courage and community in order to anchor them in everyday school life.
The entire school community – around 230 pupils and teachers – worked on artistic, musical, linguistic and media projects in cross-grade groups. The topics of discrimination, tolerance and social participation were taught in an age-appropriate, practical and creative way. Each class set its own accents and dealt with the topics of racism, exclusion and courage in a creative way.

The project week was part of the long-term school development that the Rosegger School has been pursuing since joining the nationwide “School without Racism – School with Courage” network in 2018.

Photos, interviews and reports in the school newspaper created especially for the project week impressively show how creatively and committed the pupils have implemented the topics of diversity and courage. The highlight of the project week was Friday, when the pupils proudly presented their results to the public.

The Karl Bröcker Foundation supported the financing of the implementation and the materials.
